CS467 Spring 2001
Computer Networks II
09/22/05 09:38 PM
In this course we will extend the discussion of computer networking begun in CS347. As such that course is a prerequisite for this one.
Intent of the Course
This is a project oriented course that picks up where CS347 ended. In CS347 TCP/IP networking was explained and you were introduced to network programming using sockets. In this course we will discuss other types of network programming. The course is viewed as a sequence of projects for you to develop to experiment with various standard network programming interfaces. The vehicle we have chosen to use to develop these projects is Perl. This is not so much because I am a big fan of Perl or that we wish to learn to program in Perl for it's own sake. We chose Perl because the libraries available to you will make it possible to complete projects of a non-trivial size within the time constraints of our short terms.
