Setting permissions so that TAs can access your course folders
These instructions are written from the perspective of a student in CS 140, but are
easily modified to deal with students in other classes.
The instructions assume that the TAs are in a group called (00 2) CS140TA. The
course's instructor should make sure that the group exists before asking the students to
follow the instructions.
- Set List
permission for CS 140 TAs on your home directory
- Select Start/Run
- Enter \\pinky\users$ and hit OK
- In the long list of account names, select your
user name.
- Right click on your account name and select Properties,
then Security, then Permissions
- In the dialog that pops up select Replace
Permissions on Existing Files and then click the Add button
- In the dialog that pops up select (00 2)
CS140TA in the list box, then click the Add button, then select Type
of access = List. Now keep clicking OK buttons until all dialogs
are closed.
- Set Change
permission for CS 140 TAs on folder CS140 and on all subfolders and files therein.
- Double click on your user name in the long list
of account names.
- Select subfolder CS140 and right click on it.
Then select Properties, then Security, then Permissions
- In the dialog that pops up select Replace
Permissions on Subdirectories and select Replace Permissions on Existing
Files and then click the Add button
- In the dialog that pops up select (00
2) CS140TA in the list box, then click the Add button, then
select Type of access = Change. Now keep clicking OK
buttons until all dialogs are closed.
